Step 1 /13
Receive the sensor
Before installing the eVolito sensor, please ensure the following:
The eVolito Detects changes in the electromagnetic fields; therefore, it should not be installed near power lines or equipment that emits electrical interference.
Note: The power lines mat sometimes be buried underground and not visible.
The sensor runs a self-diagnostic test after completed installation, and will warn the user if not completed.
Please install the sensor so the solar panel is not covered by objects or shade throughout the day.
If you have any issues throughout the installation process, please contact our support team at: support@faunaphotonics.com
Step 2 /13
Unpacking
Unpack the tripod and sensor.
Note: Eaxh eVolito sensor is assigned a unique serial numer (highlighted in red in the second photo), which helps with tracking, data management, and support for individual unites.
Step 3 /13
Install antenna
Install the antenna at the bottom of the sensor into the threaded conncetor. Make sure that the antenna is pointing straight downwards (do not end it as this will interfere with the signal.
Step 4 /13
Power on sensor
Press the button at the bottom of the sensor until you hear a click. The LED light will blink to let you know that the sensor is powered on.
Step 5 /13
Assemble tripod
Insert the short tubing into the tripod and tighten by rotating the knob.
Step 6 /13
Unfold tripod legs
Undo the lever and unfold the tripod legs.
Step 7 /13
Secure tripod tubes
Lock the legs by clamping the lever in place around the vertical tube. Make sure the tripod is somewhat in level.
Step 8 /13
Install stakes
Place stakes in two of the three tripod legs and make sure the stakes are driven all the way into the ground.
Step 9 /13
Install stakes
Before placing the third stake, pull the tripod outwards so that it is completely unfolded. While placing the last stake, grab onto the leg of the tripod and secure its unfolded state.
Step 10 /13
Undo the pole mount
Undo the knob on the pole mount located at the bottom of the sensor so it clears the inside of the mount.
Step 11 /13
Mount sensor
Place the eVolito sensor on top of the tripod using the pole mount. Push down on the eVolito sensor until you hear a small click/pop and the mount sits snug around the tripod tube.
Step 12 /13
Secure the sensor
Point the solar panel towards the equator. In the northern hemisphere that means point the solar panel to the south. Tighten the knob on the pole mount. No excessive force is needed.
Step 13 /13
Self-test
The eVolito sensor will perform a self-test to ensure it functions as intended. If the LED is turned off after the self-test is done, the eVolito sensor is successfully installed and recording. If the LED is turned on, there’s an issue with the installation, please contact support@faunaphotonics.com
The installation process is now completed.
